Zip lines, huge puzzles, a Roman camp, and an educational fishing boat are some of the elements in the leisure areas that will be created in five councils close to the Mandeo by the Regional Council.

A crossborder, a zip line over a fluvial pool in Oza dos Ríos, the installation of an educational fishing boat in O Pedrido (Bergondo,) or the re-enactment of a Roman village are some of the actions included in one of the projects by the Regional Council to dynamize the Mandeo river. The last plan that has been tendered out (for a total amount of nearly 600,000 euros) includes the design and installation of recreational areas at the riverside in five municipalties. The time scale is five moths.

The most important action and the one with more budget (173,092 euros) will be carried out in Sobrado on an area of 1.3 hectares (3.21 acres) in Grixalba. The construction of a huge puzzle of about 20 m2 (21.87 yards) is planned in the project. It will be composed of mobile pieces that, when they are put together, will show a historical Latin text that is related to the romanization of the area.Two surveillance wooden Roman-like towers of eight metres high will be put up in this area, referring to the Roman camp in A Cidadela. To complete the recreational area, two climbing walls will be put for the youngest on the towers, as well as a net, hanging bridges, and two slides.

After the one in Sobrado; the next biggest investment (138,422 euros) will be carried out in Oza dos Ríos, in an area with the same surface (3.21 acres,) which is at the current recreational area of Reboredo. There, though obsolete, there is already a fluvial pool. The aim is clearing and removing the weed growth in this area, which is not so well kept. Both actions the restoration of the wooden bridge to make it accesible; and the improvements in the fluvial pool by repairing the lockgates of the river to make the dam, are included in the plan, too.

In Bergondo, the current picnic area in the beach of O Pedrido will be used in a vast area of 3.6 hectares (6.07 acres.) The present recreational materials will be preserved. But an educational traditional fishing boat being minimum eight metres (26.25 feet) long will complete it. It will also have a net to climb it, a mooring rope; a climbing wall; a sailor statue; fishing tools and accesories; and mobile oars.

The action in Aranga will also be carried out at the picnic area in the municipal capital, Ponte Aranga. Several games for children will be placed in this area: seesaws, a recreational wooden roller coaster with slide, and a climbing wall. The works will be completed by boards with information about hiking trails and animals in the area. An sculptural puzzle including endangered species of the Mandeo, such as salmons, river mussels, or winkles will be also placed.

In the area of Rexidoira, located in the municipalty of Cesuras, two actions will be carried out: repairing the exterior part of a waterwheel, and refurbishing a roadmenders´ old house, which is in bad state of conservation, mainly on its roof.
