Church of Las Angustias

It is a baroque sanctuary located in San Pedro das Viñas, Betanzos. It began to be risen in 1750, trying to follow the look of the church of Nuestra Señora de los Remedios.

Description: The facade is made of square stone, and the inside is slender and has smooth lines. Once inside, the image of the Quinta Angustia made of polychromed stone is placed at the right side. The end of the presbytery is covered by an altarpiece which depicts The Deposition from the cross, being the Virgin of Anguish (Virgen de la Angustia) in the procession in the middle of the image. Neighbours of the region are great devotee of this Virgin.
Origins: The legend says that the chapel was built in a place where a Virgins image had appeared. Despite everything, it is an unfinished work: the cimborio and the gallery have been initiated, and a tower is missing.
