Church of San Cristovo de Muniferral

This church has only a nave and rectangular apse; it was built in the XII century in the style that was at its peak at that moment: Romanesque style. It is located in San Cristovo de Muniferral, in Aranga.

Description: It is the only temple with Roman origins of the
municipality. It preserves original elements as the the curious
zoomorphic and anthropomorphic corbels that decorate the naves. As many
other churches from that period, it was altered in later years. The
facade, the belfry and the vestry were built in baroque style.
Surroundings: In the area around the church, there is a curious calvary sculpture or cruceiro with
a cuadrangular base of three stairs topped by a cubic pedestal, which
has a marble plaque that states the year it was restored (1958.) The
pole has a beveled square section and it is crowned by a cuadrangular
capital. The cross, is doubtlessly the most outstading element. Its
arms are quadrangular and beveled. It has Christ crucified on the
front; with three nails and raising his head. On the back there is a
curious image that depicts San Cristovo, parishioners patron saint.
