Church of Santa Eulalia de Espenuca

Romanesque style church from the XII century. It is located in A Espenuca, in the parish of San Xulián de Coirós. Its mural paintings from the XV century are outstanding.

Description: It has a rectangular floor plan and only a nave, with a rectangular apse, as well. The interior of the nave, which is of small size, is covered by wooden roofing; whereas the apse has barrel vault. The door of entrance has the special feature of having to go down several stairs to gain access.

Dont miss: The mural paintings from the XV century.

History: Since the beginning of the Christianity, a monastery existed in A Espenuca. It was rebuilt in the year 881, and incorporated to the Monastery of Cines in the XI century. It was still a priory in the XV century, turning later into a subsidiary of the parish of Coirós.
